The 23-year-old will be shut down from baseball activities for an unspecified period and is likely to be on the shelf beyond the 10-day minimum. Brett Harris was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move, but it'll likely be Darell Hernaiz that benefits most from Muncy's absence.

Springs exited Thursday's 6-3 win over the Royals in the fourth inning due to right hip soreness, but manager Mark Kotsay noted after the game that the pitcher's removal was precautionary. Kotsay explained that Springs was likely able to continue, and he "made the decision" for his starter, removing him from the game, but the manager doesn't "see any reason for him to miss a start." Springs is projected to face Philadelphia on the road early next week.

Rodriguez is presumably going to need a minor-league rehab stint before he's activated, though it's unclear when that assignment will begin.

Yates' rehab appearances have been spread out, as he's had at least two days off between each outing. The veteran reliever has given up at least one run in each of his one-inning appearances and has served up two homers across his three frames. It's not clear how long the Angels plan to keep Yates on his rehab assignment, and his struggles may not be helping his cause for rejoining the big-league roster in short order. After Jordan Romano was designated for assignment Sunday, the Angels' closer situation is extremely murky, and Yates is a clear candidate to take on the role given his 98 career regular-season saves. However, the club may want to see Yates put together some better outings before feeling comfortable handing him the ball in the ninth inning of close contests.

O'Hoppe is on the 10-day IL while recovering from a small fracture in his left wrist. The catcher has said that he doesn't expect a long-term absence, and his ability to play catch Saturday suggests that he's making progress toward a return. O'Hoppe still figures to be out until at least mid-May. Travis d'Arnaud has been working as the Angels' primary catcher in O'Hoppe's absence.

A viral infection sent Johnson to the injured list April 6, and he later suffered a hamstring injury while making a start in extended spring training. The 23-year-old righty said Saturday that he's recovered from both issues and has been facing hitters at the Angels' complex in Arizona, per Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com, so his return date will depend on how quickly he can ramp up his workload.

The left-hander departed his most recent start Wednesday against the White Sox due to shoulder tightness, and he'll spend at least the next couple weeks on the shelf due to the injury. According to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Kikuchi's MRI is still being evaluated, so it's possible his diagnosis is updated in the near future. It's been a rough start to the season even prior to the injury, with the 34-year-old carrying a 5.81 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB over 31 innings.

Urena looked impressive in his first start of the season against the Padres on April 19 after tossing six-plus innings of two-run ball with eight strikeouts, but he couldn't repeat that outing here. This time, Urena failed to consistently find the strike zone, as he tossed just 44 of his 81 pitches for strikes and was lifted before completing four innings. It remains to be seen if Urena will get another turn in the rotation, but this outing increased his ERA to 4.76. If Urena gets another start, he'd be tentatively lined up to face the Mets at home next weekend.
