Injury Report
- Dylan DoddIRExpected return: May 14
Dodd has been on the 15-day injured list since April 23 while recovering from left thoracic spine inflammation, but southpaw now appears to be nearing a return to action. Dodd has made two appearances with Atlanta this season, giving up one run on three hits and a walk while striking out four batters over four innings.
- Eli WhiteIRExpected return: May 18
White made a spectacular catch to rob Max Muncy of an extra-base hit with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, and he crashed face-first into the padded outfield wall at the culmination of the play. White temporarily remained in the contest but was then replaced in the field by Mike Yastrzemski in the bottom of the eighth frame. White will need to gain clearance from a physician in order to be able to play in Atlanta's next game, Tuesday versus the Cubs. If he's diagnosed with a concussion, White will be required to go on the 7-day concussion injured list.
- Joey WentzIRExpected return: Feb 1
The transaction clears a 40-man roster spot for waiver pick Osvaldo Bido. Wentz will miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing surgery earlier this month to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.
- Ronald Acuna Jr.IRExpected return: May 18
Acuna hasn't hit any snags in his recovery from the Grade 1 left hamstring strain that sent him to the IL on May 3; Atlanta is seemingly just exercising some caution in bringing the prized outfielder back from the injury.
- Sean MurphyIRExpected return: Jul 10
The veteran backstop landed on the injured list earlier Tuesday due to a fractured left middle finger, which he sustained Sunday in just his fourth game of the season after opening the year on the injured list while rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Murphy's absence will extended into July and could push beyond the All-Star break. Drake Baldwin is poised to work as Atlanta's starting catcher, and the club signed Sandy Leon to fill the back up job.
- Danny CoulombeIRExpected return: May 17
It's unclear how long his neck has been bothering him, but Coulombe last pitched Friday. The lefty has yielded five runs with a 5:3 K:BB over eight innings out of the Boston bullpen this season. His spot on the roster and in the bullpen will be filled by Alec Gamboa.
- Garrett CrochetIRExpected return: May 22
Crochet pitched off a mound for the first time since hitting the injured list last month with shoulder inflammation. Next up for the left-hander is an expected two-inning bullpen session this weekend in Atlanta. If Crochet feels good coming out of that longer session, then he could face hitters by the middle of next week, putting him on schedule for a potential return during the last week of May. The Red Sox could follow a similar path as the one laid out for Sonny Gray and let Crochet return to the rotation without a rehab assignment.
- Johan OviedoIRExpected return: Jun 17
Oviedo has been shut down over the past month after being diagnosed with a right flexor strain in early April. The Red Sox will determine the next steps for Oviedo's rehab based on what comes out of the upcoming exam with Dr. Meister.
- Roman AnthonyIRExpected return: May 22
The next box Anthony needs to check off is showing he's able to have full grip strength when he grips a bat. That seems to suggest he's not close to returning, though the Red Sox indicated Tuesday that Anthony's right wrist sprain is improving. Masataka Yoshida will continue to serve as the team's primary designated hitter while Anthony recuperates.
- Connor WongDay-to-dayExpected return: May 14
It's the third straight game on the bench for Wong after starting the previous three contests. The 29-year-old's .885 OPS in 27 plate appearances this year is far superior to Carlos Narvaez's .542 mark, though Narvaez now appears to have the upper hand for playing time after a strong couple games at the plate.
- Nick BurdiDay-to-dayExpected return: May 31
A bruised foot caused Burdi to land on the injured list June 3, but a hip injury suffered at Worcester caused him to move to the 60-day IL. He'll now come off the IL following a minimum-length stay, though the Red Sox will keep him in the minors for the time being. The 32-year-old has thrown 5.1 shutout innings for Boston this season and sports a 1.23 ERA through 22 Triple-A frames.
- Willson ContrerasDay-to-dayExpected return: May 13
Contreras had medical imaging come back negative after being hit by a pitch on the right hand Sunday against the Rays, and he'll be held out of Tuesday's starting nine after Monday's team off day. Mickey Gasper is stepping in at first base Tuesday for the Red Sox.
