Injury Report
- Carlos SantanaIRExpected return: Jun 1
Santana had appeared poised for activation from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Rangers, but his status is now up in the air. The 40-year-old was functioning as the Diamondbacks' primary first baseman before getting hurt in early April, but with the emergence of Ildemaro Vargas, Santana could be looking at a reduced role when he does make it back.
- James McCannIRExpected return: Jun 26
McCann landed on the injured list Tuesday with a quad strain, and it doesn't seem like the Diamondbacks are going to get their backup catcher back anytime soon. Aramis Garcia was recalled from Triple-A to replenish Arizona's backstop depth behind Gabriel Moreno. Adrian Del Castillo could make an occasional appearance behind the plate as well.
- Jordan LawlarIRExpected return: Jun 15
The activities included taking some dry swings, among other things. Lawlar still has plenty of boxes to check before he's cleared for a rehab assignment, but this was an important step in his rehab process. The 23-year-old is already more than six weeks into an initial 6-to-8 week timetable, and it's unlikely he'll be ready to return within that timeframe.
- Lourdes Gurriel Jr.IRExpected return: Jun 2
Gurriel injured his hamstring while sliding to make a catch in the outfield Friday, leading to his placement on the 10-day IL. It sounds like both the player and team expect him back when he's first eligible to return on June 2, but in the meantime, Tommy Troy will get a look in left field for the Diamondbacks.
- Pavin SmithIRExpected return: May 29
Smith, who began taking dry swings earlier this month, has added another baseball activity in his recovery from elbow surgery. He underwent a procedure to remove loose bodies on April 16. The Diamondbacks have not yet offered an estimated timetable for Smith's return. He's currently on the 60-day injured list and eligible to return May 29.
- Jeff BrighamDay-to-dayExpected return: May 27
Brigham, 32, collected a 5.26 ERA and 42:18 K:BB over 37.2 frames with the Mets last season. He'd thrown 2.2 innings and allowed one run with four strikeouts at St. Paul before the injury. He was expected to add depth at Triple-A, but it looks like he won't be an option for several weeks or more.
- Rene PintoDay-to-dayExpected return: May 24
Pinto has been sidelined since late May with an undisclosed injury, though he appears to be nearing a return. He may get a chance in the majors immediately, as Francisco Mejia (knee) exited Thursday's game against the Orioles and could be forced to miss time.
- Adam MazurIRExpected return: Apr 1
The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster. Mazur will miss the entirety of the 2026 season after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace on his right elbow earlier this month.
- Griffin ConineIRExpected return: Jun 1
Conine suffered a left hamstring strain during Thursday's game against Cincinnati and has now decided to go under the knife to treat the problem. He's expected to miss 6-8 weeks following the procedure, setting him up for a return to Miami's lineup in late May or early June.
- Leo JimenezIRExpected return: May 29
Jimenez was taken out of Tuesday's game against Atlanta after experiencing neck stiffness due to a collision with Ronald Acuna in the sixth inning. The 25-year-old has recorded just ten hits in 44 at-bats for Miami this campaign. Miami is recalling Graham Pauley in response to Jimenez being placed on the IL.
- Robby SnellingIRExpected return: Jun 1
The Marlins had indicated previously that Snelling would require Tommy John surgery, so it's pleasant surprise that he needed an internal brace procedure instead. The operation Snelling had comes with a timetable of 10-to-12 months, which gives him a good chance to be a contributor for Miami at some point next season.
