Diamondbacks vs Rockies

Friday, May 15, 2026 at 5:40 PM PDT — Coors Field

Injury Report

Diamondbacks
  • Andrew SaalfrankIR
    Expected return: Feb 1

Saalfrank underwent surgery Monday to repair the left labrum in his shoulder and has already been placed on the 60-day injured list. The rehab timeline gives the lefty a chance to be ready for the start of the 2027 season, but it is not a given.

  • Carlos SantanaIR
    Expected return: May 9

Santana suffered the injury in Sunday's game versus Atlanta and will need at least the next week-and-a-half to recuperate. With Pavin Smith (elbow) also shelved, the Diamondbacks' first base and designated hitter depth has thinned out. Ildemaro Vargas is at first base and Adrian Del Castillo is at DH on Tuesday against the Mets.

  • Gabriel MorenoIR
    Expected return: May 1

The most recent news had Moreno returning Tuesday for the series against the Brewers, but it's been pushed back until at least Friday. The Diamondbacks are getting by with backups behind the plate, but Adrian Del Castillo (finger) is day-to-day after being removed from Sunday's game. James McCann and Aramis Garcia are still on the 26-man roster to carry the catching load until Moreno and/or Del Castillo are ready.

  • Jordan LawlarIR
    Expected return: Jun 3

The 23-year-old was given a 6-to-8-week recovery timeline after fracturing his right wrist last week, but the move to the 60-day IL guarantees he will be on the shelf until at least early June. Prior to suffering the injury, Lawlar was off to a hot start this season, going 6-for-18 with a double, a home run and a steal across 20 plate appearances.

  • Pavin SmithIR
    Expected return: May 29

The bone chips were the cause of the inflammation that Smith began experiencing during spring training. A timeline for his return for his return was not given, but he's currently on the 60-day injured list and can't be reinstated until May 29.

  • Geraldo PerdomoDay-to-day
    Expected return: Apr 29

Perdomo began doing baseball activities a few days after being removed from Saturday's game due to a left ankle sprain. He's missed two games while Jose Fernandez took his place at shortstop.

  • Jeff BrighamDay-to-day
    Expected return: May 5

Brigham made four relief appearances for the Diamondbacks last season, yielding three runs over 3.1 innings. He'll turn 34 in February and has collected a 4.85 ERA over 94 appearances (four starts) covering parts of six big-league seasons. Brigham is likely to begin the 2026 season as relief depth at Triple-A Iowa.

  • Rene PintoDay-to-day
    Expected return: May 4

Pinto slashed .231/.263/.404 during parts of three seasons with the Rays from 2022-2024. He spent the 2025 campaign in the minors split between the Blue Jays and Diamondbacks organizations, hitting .259/.309/.498 with 12 homers in 64 games. Pinto will provide the Phillies with some experienced catching depth.

  • Zac GallenDay-to-day
    Expected return: May 1

Gallen showed up at the ballpark Monday and played catch two days after being removed from Saturday's start. The right-hander expects to make his next start projected for Friday on the road against the Cubs.

Rockies
  • Kris BryantIR
    Expected return: Jun 1

The 34-year-old is dealing with a lumbar degenerative disc disease and has played a combined 170 games across four seasons since inking a seven-year, $182 million contract with Colorado. Bryant was placed on the 60-day injured list last week, and there's been no indicate of when, or if, he'll be able to retake the field.

  • Ryan FeltnerIR
    Expected return: May 29

Feltner was removed from his start against the Padres on Thursday due to what was called right triceps tightness at the time, but upon a more thorough exam, it turns out he's got a nerve issue in his pitching elbow. The Rockies have not revealed a timetable for the righty's return, but it's an injury that could result in an extended absence.

  • Willi CastroDay-to-day
    Expected return: Apr 29

Castro has not played since exiting last Thursday's game against the Padres due to right knee soreness. It's unclear whether he will be available off the bench. Edouard Julien is again at second base for the Rockies on Tuesday.
